Celebrating the life of

James W. (Jimmy) Reeder

August 02, 1942 - August 24, 2025

James W. (Jimmy) Reeder

James “Jimmy” W. Reeder was born on August 2, 1942, in Augusta, GA, to the late James Everett Reeder and Madlyn Williams Reeder.

Jimmy  graduated from Richmond Academy in Augusta, GA, and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the University of Georgia in 1965. He retired from Proctor & Gamble, as well as Consolidated Rigging and Coastal Paper. A member of Wilmington Island Methodist Church, Jimmy also served as a former board member for the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) Georgia and was involved with the Gateway Community Service Board.

He was known for his friendly demeanor and had a knack for making new friends. He will be greatly missed by the community, including familiar faces from the post office, ACE Hardware, the lovely ladies at Kroger and Publix, and all the banks on the Island, as well as from State Farm.

Jimmy leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Diane Brown Reeder; a son, Randy Clayton Reeder of Columbus; daughter, Courtney Reeder Dawkins (Jeremy) of Elizabeth City, NC; his grandchildren, Sasha Dawkins Rodgers (Ben) of Chesapeake, VA, Alexander Caleb Dawkins of Virginia Beach, VA, and Siddalee Grace Dawkins of Elizabeth City; two sisters, Becky Crocker and Debbie Dye (Howard), both of Augusta; and several nieces and nephews. Additionally, Jimmy leaves behind his beloved dog, Petey Reeder, who was his loyal companion during their drives through the parking lots of Wilmington Island.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Wilmington Island Methodist Church, with Pastor Doug Walker officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Jimmy’s memory be made to NAMI Savannah, P.O. Box 13731, Savannah, GA 31416.
